I've also decided to go ahead and apply to Arizona State. I'm fully aware that most people in their MBA program have a few years of work experience. I've also been made aware that the Sports MBA program is very competitive; they only accept twelve people each year! Twelve! But this evening I read through the profiles of the students currently in the program. I found two guys who went there straight out of college. So I figured, if they could do it, why shouldn't I at least give it a shot? I don't want to knock myself out of the running without even giving myself an opportunity. I'm hoping that I have enough work experience in college to get their attention.
The other school I'm now considering is Auburn. I know, I know, I know. I know. For the past two years Auburn has been a wart on my football soul, but I've got to put that aside for now. When I brought up the mere consideration of applying to Auburn at work yesterday I nearly got my head cut off. I used to think that it'd be too tough for me to go to another SEC school or work in an SEC school's athletics department. But I realized that I've got to at least try to not let my loyalties to UF get in the way of a good opportunity. Unlike UNC-Charlotte, which is still the frontrunner in my school search, Auburn has a big D-I program like I've been wanting all along. I also started considering LSU, although not as much as Auburn. When I said this I'm pretty sure my coworkers thought I was the devil. :) I keed, I keed. But seriously, they were not pleased. Oh well, I hope I find the right school that's the best fit.
