Victory!
Ok, so remember how last week I was really upset about the Everglades? I was all bent out of shape because I love the Everglades and President Bush was planning to veto a $23 billion bill designed to help preserve the Everglades and other wetlands around the country. Well, Congress is going to override the veto! I heard this while I was listening to NPR on the way to work this morning. I was sooo excited! :) ! I still am. According to the report they got much more than the 2/3 needed to override the veto. According to White House Press Secretary, Dana Perino, President Bush's response to the override was that he understands these wetlands are important to the local towns, but that the bill was filled with political pork. Excuse me, Mr. President, but the nation's wetlands, and environment as a whole, affect much more than neighboring towns. Our country's welfare depends on having a healthy ecosystem. Hopefully our next president will be able to realize that.
